Our Range of 'Special' Tomatoes
Our tomatoes are picked and packed for perfection. What makes them ‘special’ is the fact that they are insecticide free and we only harvest them when they are fully ripened on the plant giving them optimum flavour and texture.
They are placed straight into the final market box, with their calyx attached, to reduce handling and maximise their natural shelf-life. We do not refrigerate after harvest as cold storage reduces the tomatoes flavour. So what is picked today is sold today, guaranteeing a fresh product. Pests are controlled using natural predators, enabling us to produce insecticide free tomatoes.

| ‘Special’ Tomatoes C & D | These are Leonard Ironside’s traditional round tomatoes. We have selected the variety "Encore" because it has a deep red colour, is sweet and juicy with a firm crisp flesh. These come in 2 different sizes C (57-67mm diameter) and size D (47-57mm diameter) |
| Truss (on the vine) Tomatoes | Our 'Special' tomatoes are also available "on the vine" and our variety "Classy", once harvested, retains its natural aroma and flavours for longer. |
| Cherry & Cherry Vines | Selected for their sweetness, our variety called "Conchita", is available as a cherry or a cherry vine and is great in salads or just on their own to pop in the mouth. |
| Plum | Our plum tomatoes are a variety called "Celine" and have a distinctive oval shape, a sweet flavour with firm flesh and less juice in the centre than our other tomatoes. |
| Baby Plum | We have been able to concentrate the flavour of our plum tomatoes in a baby variety called “Flavorina” which is now available loose or on the vine. |
| Mini Plum | New for 2008, red and orange. Watch this space! |
| Beef | New for 2008, our growers secretly call it "Triple B" – "Brian’s Best Beef." |
